Smith's American has been around since 1906, and HQ'd in NYC. In their own words: "In the early years, if you were a tradesman, you most likely wore a pair of Smith's overalls or painter's pants to work. These well-constructed garments made from cotton duck, hickory stripe twill, and indigo denim were the foundations of this genuine workwear company." Smith's American brought me in to capture their TV show appearances, mentions and wearings by known-figures from a stack of VHS tapes they had and put them together in collective video form to loop at tradeshows and to use as a marketing tool and in an attempt to expand their reach in the U.S.; they are big in Japan and were looking to expand their exposure and business in the U.S.
Video
Smith's American was in possesion of 22 VHS video tapes containing clips of their company being mentioned or celebrity-worn on varying TV and news shows and needed that footage captured digitally, edited and collectively compiled into succinct and fluid video form; in short - 22 videos into one video. Smith's gave me their VHS tapes which I then captured, edited and composited as needed. Work also included sound (the sound from those captured videos varied widely), creating, animating, and compositing their intro graphic (beginning) as well as the photo montages created throughout this video. The final video was made into HD dimensions (VHS tapes were all NTSC sized) and delivered to them as a digital video file as well as on DVD. Video here is of HD dimensions but made a bit smaller in sizing and weight for this site.
